Frequently Asked Questions

1

How do I schedule an appointment?

You can schedule an appointment by emailing us. We will discuss your concerns and match you with the appropriate provider from this initial conversation but if you feel it’s not a good fit after meeting your provider, you can always request a change.

2

This is my first time, what can I expect during my first appointment?

The 1st and 2nd sessions are utilized for gathering information. These initial sessions are for us to get to know one another. The therapist will ask you a lot of questions in order to understand completely what your concerns are. From there you’ll work together to develop a treatment plan with your goals you’d like to address while in counseling.

3

Is my information and what I say kept private?

As part of a small rural community, we all know it’s hard to keep secrets. Rest assured that your privacy is our utmost concern at SOH. We are bound by federal law to protect you and your information. Your therapist will discuss this with you during your first session.

4

What do I do if I need help right away?

If you have an urgent need or are in an emergency situation please go to your local emergency room or you call any other the below options suitable to your needs: national Suicide Prevention Hotline at 1-800-784-2433, Veterans Crisis Hotline at 1-800-273-8255, the National Sexual Assault Hotline at 1-800-656-HOPE. You can also text HOME to 741741 if texting is preferred.

How long do I have to be in counseling?

The length of time you’re in counseling is determined by you and your therapist. This means that you and your therapist will work together to formulate a treatment plan. When you meet your treatment goals, you and your therapist will then determine if it’s time to terminate counseling. However, you may end counseling at any time.

6

I have insurance, will this be something I can use that for?

We are out of network will all insurances. The fee for counseling is $90.00 per session. If you would like to submit your session for insurance reimbursement we can provide you with the paperwork to do so.

It says you see women 18 years old and older, but are there any other issues you can’t treat?

At this time we cannot accept court-referred clients. We also are not able to do custody evaluations or court-ordered custody counseling or parenting counseling that is court-ordered. If you have recently been suicidal or released from a hospital, it is likely that we cannot meet your mental healthcare needs. We do not prescribe medication or perform psychological evaluations.
